History

In 1937 Chick began making the Dixie Mallard call by hand without the assistance of a jig. In 1939 he had a jig made to assist in crafting the end piece to make the legandary Dixie Mallard Call.
The Dixie Mallard Call was turned and tuned by Chick himself and his wife Sophie along with their 3 Daughters, Pat Peacock, Brenda Cahill, and Dixie Holt.
A Dixie Mallard Call was blown in competitions throughout the years by the Major family

Following Chick's Death in 1974, the Dixie Mallard Call was carried on by Don and Brenda Cahill.
They moved the shop from Stuttgart to Morrilton to continue the tradition.
Using the same jig from 1939 Don made calls upto his death in 2023.
In 1978 you could also find David Cahill in the shop turning calls. He makes the 3rd generation in the call lineage.
He began turning Acrylic calls in the shop for a few years before he went to college.
He can also be be found today in the shop continuing to turn a few calls with Tyler.
In 2015 Tyler began working in the shop with Don to learn how to turn calls. He would spend almost ever summer until 2018 with Don when he wasn't in College.
After Don passed away in 2023, Tyler took over Production in August of 2024.
The shop was then moved to Whitesboro, TX with Tyler but will be moved back to Arkansas in 2026.
